A Successful Campaign: Thank You!
As Fuller Theological Seminary’s Leading Change Capital Campaign comes to a
close, I invite you to celebrate with us! By any measure, this campaign—the
largest by far in Fuller’s history, and perhaps the largest of its kind for a
theological seminary—has been an overwhelming success.
In these times of unprecedented global change, the Church has reached a critical
juncture—and equipping leaders to take the healing, life-saving message of
Christ to the world is more important than ever. We take seriously the
responsibility of Fuller Seminary, as a world leader in theological education,
to prepare those leaders effectively. At the beginning of this new century, we
recognized that we needed a significant infusion of resources to support
environmental improvements, new programs and partnerships, and other
enhancements to ensure Fuller’s leading academic role in the coming decades.
Thus was born our Leading Change Capital Campaign.
This campaign, through eight different initiatives, represented Fuller’s best
thinking, planning, and preparation for the future of seminary education and the
global church. We’ve communicated those goals to many of you in multiple ways,
including a series of campaign gatherings at more than 20 locations across the
U.S. and in Korea.
And you responded! Nearly 3,500 of you attended those local events, far
exceeding our hopes. At those gatherings—led by more than 300 volunteer
organizers—over 1,800 of you gave $3.7 million, also significantly exceeding our
$2.0 million goal. Another important objective was to enlarge our donor base—to
invite more of you to partner with us in building the future of seminary
education—and there, too, we exceeded all expectations, with more than 1,000
becoming new financial partners with us.
Most exciting of all, I am pleased to report that our Leading Change financial
goal of $148 million has been met! Thank you all for this marvelous response!
In the following pages you will hear from just a sampling of those who partnered
with us in the campaign, as well as students who represent the kinds of future
leaders this effort will equip for years to come. How very grateful I am to each
of you—alumni/ae, trustees, faculty, staff, churches, foundations, and
friends—who played a part in the success of this campaign. Your partnership has
given Fuller Seminary an outstanding base from which to equip 21st century
Christian leaders for a changing world. Rejoice with us!
